Today’s question is from Isaiah 50:2
The Bible is filled with rescue stories. God rescued Noah and his family from the flood and the Israelites at the Red Sea. God rescued Lot from the people of Sodom and Daniel in the lions’ den. During the days of Isaiah the Lord was angry because the people refused to trust in him. So the Lord asked them: “Do I lack the strength to rescue you?” He told them he had the power to dry up rivers and fill the sky with storm clouds. Certainly he could rescue them from their enemies. Can you remember a time when you needed to be rescued? Can you count how many times God’s angels rescued you already? But there is more to rescuing us than just from bodily harm. Paul wrote in Galatians 1:3,4, “Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age.” Jesus also rescues us from sin and its curse. Jesus’ death and resurrection was the greatest rescue ever! Thank God today for rescuing you so many times and in so many ways!
A verse to remember:
“If you love me and truly know who I am, I will rescue you and keep you safe!”
Psalm 91:14 (CEV)
Today my prayer includes . . .
thanks for this special blessing:
concern for this special person:
petition for this special problem:
A closing verse:
Let me tell the wondrous story;
Let me tell of Calvary;
Of the wonderful compassion
That could rescue even me.
