Question: “Why did you doubt?”

Today’s question is from Matthew 14:31

The storms of life are raging all around us. We are tossed about by powerful waves of pain, anxiety, loneliness, tragedy, and disappointment. Jesus spoke this snippet to someone who was literally being tossed about on the sea. It was the brave and bold Peter who had just stepped out of his boat to walk to Jesus on the water. But when he saw the waves approaching, he began to sink. It was then Jesus took him by the hand and asked, “Why did you doubt?” How many times don’t we become terrified by approaching waves and begin to doubt if Jesus can rescue us? Peter did the right thing. He cried out, “Lord, save me!” When you feel that you are drowning in your sorry circumstances, cry out as Peter did. Jesus is always there to pull you to safety!

A verse to remember:

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you!”

Isaiah 43:2

Today my prayer includes . . .

           thanks for this special blessing:

          concern for this special person:

          petition for this special problem:

A closing verse:

Just as I am—though tossed about
With many a conflict, many a doubt,
Fightings and fears within, without—
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
