Question: “Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no position there?”

Today’s question is from Jeremiah 8:22

The life of Jeremiah was filled with sadness and concern for his people. He knew that destruction and captivity were on the way, but no matter how much he pleaded with the people to follow the Lord, they stubbornly resisted the warnings. That is when we read this snippet. The trees in the land of Gilead were known to provide a special salve or balm that was very effective in healing wounds and aches. It was readily available, yet the people refused to use it. Such can be seen in our world today. God’s grace is free to all yet so many people stubbornly refuse it. But God’s people know where to go for treatment. When you feel the need for special healing, place your trust in the Great Physician. He alone has the balm to heal your aching heart and soul, mind and body. Go to him for pardon, cleansing, and assurance!

A verse to remember:

“Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise!”

Jeremiah 17:14

Today my prayer includes . . .

          thanks for this special blessing:

          concern for this special person:

          petition for this special problem:

 A closing verse:

There is a balm in Gilead

To make the wounded whole

There is a balm in Gilead

To heal the sin sick soul.
