What a loving God we have! It is amazing how many times God’s Word assures us that he is with us, watching over us, and caring for us. God spoke these words to Jacob during his dream at Bethel. Jacob was on the run after deceiving his brother Esau. His travels would take him to foreign lands, and he was in need of God’s assurance that he would be with him. These words stayed with Jacob, and they gave him the hope he needed. They also serve us well. God’s promise to be with us and to always watch over us should mean something to us even today. Seven chapters later Jacob returned to Bethel, just as God promised. Keep in mind that God has promised to take you to your homeland too!
A word of wisdom for a sticky note:
“Whatever my earthly lot, heaven is my home!”
Today my prayer includes . . .
thanks for this special blessing:
concern for this special person:
petition for this special problem:
A closing verse:
O God of Bethel, by whose hand Thy people still are fed,
Who through this weary pilgrimage hast all our fathers led.
O spread Thy covering wings around till all our wanderings cease,
And at our Father’s loved abode our souls arrive in peace.
