Hope for Each New Day

Praise the LORD because he is good to us, and his love never fails. 1 Chronicles 16:34 (CEV)

What does it mean when we say God is good? The Bible tells us that God’s goodness is abundant and is always with us. It tells us that God’s goodness is never withheld from us, and everything good comes from him. We know that God gives good gifts to his children. Over 20 times in the book of Psalms we are told that God is good. Then why is it so hard convincing ourselves of that fact? Is it because our sinful nature prefers to concentrate on the bad things and not on God’s goodness? King David lived in royalty, yet his life was not all roses. He had many enemies, a dysfunctional family, and his share of sinful baggage. Yet David knew that God’s goodness never failed him. David’s imperfection at being good was overshadowed by God’s perfect goodness. Today take a moment to not only reflect on God’s goodness but to share that goodness with others!

A word of wisdom for a sticky note:

“God is good even when life isn’t!”

Today my prayer includes . . .

thanks for this special blessing:

concern for this special person:

petition for this special problem:

 A closing verse:

Yes, God is good; in earth and sky,
From ocean depths and spreading wood,
Ten thousand voices seem to cry,
God made us all, and God is good.
