Hope for Each New Day

Open his eyes, LORD, so that he may see. 2 Kings 6:17

Have you ever wished you could close your eyes and when you open them, you could see God’s angels at work? The Bible says angels are all around us. We know that they guard and protect us and will carry our souls to heaven when we die. But don’t you wish you could see the angelic team at work? In our snippet today that actually happened. The king of Aram was set on destroying Elisha and his servant, so he surrounded their home with his army.  The servant feared his time on earth was coming to an end. But Elisha knew something that his servant did not. He saw the hills surrounding Aram’s army filled with angels in flaming chariots ready for warfare. This snippet was Elisha’s prayer that his servant might also see that glorious sight. What a reassuring lesson we can learn from this! We need to daily thank God for this army of blessings. God has provided a wonderful invisible blessing for us in his angels. One day we will see the host of angels with our own eyes. What a glorious sight that will be!

A word of wisdom for a sticky note:

“Angels, our invisible allies!”

Today my prayer includes . . .

thanks for this special blessing:

concern for this special person:

petition for this special problem:

 A closing verse:

Lord, give your angels every day

Command to guard us on our way,
And bid them every evening keep

Their watch around us while we sleep.
