Will he not bring to fruition my salvation and grant me my every desire? 2 Samuel 23:5 (’84)
It’s fun reading famous people’s last words. Martin Luther’s friend Philip Melanchthon was asked if he had any last words. He replied, “Nothing else but heaven!” Hymnwriter John Newton’s final written words were, “I remember two things: that I am a great sinner and that Christ is a great Savior.” There are instances in Scripture where God relates famous last words. Jacob’s dying words are in Genesis 49, and Joseph’s in Genesis 50. Moses’ dying words are in Deuteronomy 33. Today’s snippet records the last words spoken by the great King David. They reflect his life in every way. David lived for the Lord. He loved the Lord, and he fashioned his life as a servant of the Lord. Even though his weaknesses were well recorded, the Lord still said of David, “The Lord has sought out a man after his own heart” (1 Samuel 13:14). What beautiful words for us. Truly, the Lord will bring to fruition your salvation just as he did David. Think about that today!
A word of wisdom for a sticky note:
“Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid!” Isaiah 12:2
Today my prayer includes . . .
thanks for this special blessing:
concern for this special person:
petition for this special problem:
A closing verse:
All glory to God for salvation,
From sin He sets me free;
Go tell it to every nation,
That Jesus has saved even me
