Daily Snippets on God’s Blessings – Memories

Remember the former things, those of long ago.

Isaiah 46:9

Something no one can take away from us is our memory. We love to reminisce and page through dusty photo albums that bring back many good times we enjoyed. Everyone has a different story to tell. Some of us remember childhood fun, school times, a dear friend, or Christmas from years ago. Such reflections bring back countless memories. Did you know that nearly the entire book of Deuteronomy is Moses’ recollection of the Israelites in Egypt, at Mount Sinai, and in the wilderness those 40 years? Remembering was important to Moses, and he stressed its importance often. His constant plea was that the Children of Israel would remember the Lord’s grace during their struggles in search of the Promised Land. Memories can be good, and sometimes necessary. We all enjoy them, and we can also learn from them. But, lest we forget, the future belongs to God. Thank God for his blessing of your memory!
