GOD GIVES US WEATHER “He brings the clouds. . . to water the earth and show his love.” Job 37:13 Do you know what the weather forecast is for tomorrow? Without a forecast we might dress for a sunny day and be caught in the rain. Even though the meteorologists […]

GOD GIVES US FAMILY
“God blessed [Adam and Eve] and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number.’” Genesis 1:28 In the first chapter of Genesis, God began the idea of family. It says: “God blessed [Adam and Eve] and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and […]
God is not human, that he should lie. Numbers 23:19
According to some studies, every week Americans tell eleven lies and 70% claim to be willing to lie repeatedly. It is also claimed that children start lying at age two and by age four they can lie convincingly. These studies, of course, don’t show us anything new. The first sin […]
Spring up, O well! Sing about it. Numbers 21:17
It’s fun watching little children make up songs while they’re playing. It shows they are happy and they want to tell about it. The Hebrew people were known for their spontaneous songs. In times of great rejoicing it was normal for someone to compose a new song on the spot. […]
The LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace. Numbers 6:26
Who would have guessed that we would live in a society that no longer communicates face to face? A 2012 survey of over 1,000 teens asked what their favorite way to communicate was. They answered, “in person.” That same question was asked in 2018 and the answer was, “texting.” This […]
I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be my people. Leviticus 26:12
Taking walks with God is an expression which is found several times in Scripture. Already in Genesis 3:8 we read, “The man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day.” No doubt God visited his […]
My presence will go with you. Exodus 33:14
It was not a good day for Moses. He had just witnessed his people worshiping a golden calf. They had rebelled against God, and the Lord was so angry that he told Moses to go on with their trip, but he would not go with them. This deeply disheartened Moses […]
As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease. Genesis 8:22
Someone took time to count all the promises in the Bible. The total was an amazing 8,800! These promises begin in the book of Genesis. Already in Genesis 3 God promises to send a Savior. In our snippet from Genesis 8 God makes a promise to himself that he shares […]
I know you by name and you have found favor with me. Exodus 33:12
“[He] loves me every day the same; even calls me by my name.” Those words are from the beloved children’s song, “I Am Jesus’ Little Lamb.” Such comforting words teach us how much God loves us. The first words God spoke to Moses at the burning bush were, “Moses, Moses!” […]
I have filled him with the Spirit of God . . . with knowledge and all craftsmanship. Exodus 31:3
Michelangelo once admitted, “Many believe—I believe—that I have been designated for this work by God.” Why did God include beauty, color, and form in his creation? Why does God bless some individuals with special skills in art and craftsmanship? Our snippet today speaks of a man named Bezalel, an artist […]
