I told no one what my God had put into my heart. Nehemiah 2:11 (ESV)
Nehemiah stayed in Jerusalem for three nights before inspecting the collapsed wall. He needed to find out how difficult the project would be. His plan was to ride horseback around the city in the dead of night. That way he would not arouse suspicion by the people of the city or apprehension about his plans. It was in line with Nehemiah’s personality. Never in his book does he draw attention to anything he had done. He felt there were times in his life which were to remain between himself and the Lord. That still holds true today. Friends and family are wonderful, and we try to share our good times and bad times with them. But some conversations and thoughts need to be private. Some feelings, some prayers, some intimate moments are better left to the privacy and intimacy in your one-on-one time with the Lord. Sometimes you need to personally and privately look into those things that God has put into your heart. Sometimes you need to inspect your walls in the dead of night when only you and God are there!
A word of wisdom for a sticky note:
“You are never alone when you are alone with God!”
Today my prayer includes . . .
thanks for this special blessing:
concern for this special person:
petition for this special problem:
A closing verse:
When storms of life are ‘round me beating,
When rough the path that I have trod,
Within my closet door retreating,
I love to be alone with God.
