Hope for Each New Day

My cry came to his ears. 2 Samuel 22:7

Toward the end of David’s life he wrote a beautiful song of praise that we read in 2 Samuel 22. David was a master at writing psalms, hymns, and poems to the Lord. His mastery can be seen in the 73 psalms he has left for us to enjoy. In this song David is reflecting on the many times God gave him victory over his enemies. David was a great king, perhaps the greatest king ever in Israel. During his reign the temple was planned to be built in Jerusalem. Under David the land of Israel was enlarged, and the dreaded Philistines were defeated. And during the reign of King David worship of the true God was restored and fostered among the people. In today’s snippet David gives us a hint to his success. God always heard his prayers. When you read through his many psalms you can’t miss the truth that the Lord is with his people. Thank God for always having his ears ready to hear your cries!

A word of wisdom for a sticky note:

“God can’t close his ears to your cries!”

Today my prayer includes . . .

thanks for this special blessing:

concern for this special person:

petition for this special problem:

 A closing verse:

I love the Lord: He heard my cries,
And pitied every groan:
Long as I live, when troubles rise,
I’ll hasten to His throne.
