You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the Lord your God gave you has failed. Every promise has been fulfilled; not one has failed. Joshua 23:14
Joshua was a remarkable man. He was a slave, soldier, spy, servant, statesman, and saint who was assigned the difficult task of resettling God’s people in the Promised Land. His early years were spent looking forward to that land, once as a spy but now as a permanent resident. Over 400 years earlier in Genesis 46:4 the Lord promised Jacob, “I will go down to Egypt with you, and I will surely bring you back again.” Joshua was well acquainted with God’s promises. He saw many of them fulfilled in the wilderness, so in his farewell address he reminds the people about God’s faithfulness. There is a Promised Land in store for you also, and God will keep his promise to bring you there forever—as a permanent resident! You can rely on that because, “You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the Lord your God gave you has failed.”
A word of wisdom for a sticky note:
“God never forgets a promise!”
Today my prayer includes . . .
thanks for this special blessing:
concern for this special person:
petition for this special problem:
A closing verse:
We’ll all stand up for Jesus, the loving and the brave,
Who died a death of anguish our wandering souls to save;
And now He lives to bless us, to lead our little band,
Through all the storms and dangers, into the Promised Land.
