BOOK OF LIFE

BOOK OF LIFE . . .

“Another book was opened, which is the book of life.” Revelation 20:12

It is estimated there are over 15,000 books written about Abraham Lincoln, more than any other famous American. How many books are written about you? One needs to be well-known to have his or her name appear in a book.

Did you know there is a book that includes your name? It is the most important book ever written. It isn’t kept in any library or museum. This book is in heaven. It’s called the Book of Life.

God is the keeper of this book, and in it he lists the names of every believer. Daniel 12:1 says,“Everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be delivered.” And Revelation 20:12 says, “I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life.”

The names of unbelievers will not be found in God’s book. Psalm 69:28 says, “May they be blotted out of the book of life and not be listed with the righteous.” And again, “Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:15).

God has promised that his children will not be blotted out of his book: “The one who is victorious will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out the name of that person from the book of life, but will acknowledge that name before my Father and his angels” (Revelation 3:5).

We can rejoice with Luke, who said, “Rejoice that your names are written in heaven” (Luke 10:20).
