I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.3 John 4 |
In the first chapter of Genesis, God introduced the idea of family. It says, “God blessed [Adam and Eve] and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it’” (Genesis 1:28). God was telling Adam and Eve to have children and to begin the first family. God’s plan for this family was to have a man and a woman joined as one and to raise offspring in a godly manner. God’s intent was to give loving companionship as well as a means to pass on his love from generation to generation. As Malachi 2:15 says, “What does the one God seek? Godly offspring!” Our families serve as microcosms of the larger family we enjoy with our brothers and sisters in the Lord, with God as our Father and Jesus as our brother. Take a moment to pray for your family and thank him for making you part of his family!
Digging deeper:
Read Psalms 127 and 128. Both of these psalms show the great blessing that comes from family.
Today my prayer includes . . .
thanks for this special blessing:
concern for this special person:
petition for this special problem:
A closing verse:
O happy home, where Thou art not forgotten,
Where joy is overflowing, full and free,
O happy home, where every wounded spirit
Is brought, Physician, Comforter, to Thee.
