Today’s question is from 1 Corinthians 15:55
This snippet is often read at Christian funerals because it offers such comfort and consolation. Again one of Paul’s rhetorical questions, we can all join in answering, “Nowhere!” In this same chapter Paul teaches about the death and resurrection of God’s people. He writes, “The last enemy to be destroyed is death” (1 Corinthians 15:26). In other words, death has no hold on us. It has been destroyed at the cross and sealed in the tomb. As God’s people we no longer need to fear death. It is not an end for us but a new beginning into a glorified life. Take this snippet with you today and remind yourself that God’s grace is so great that death has been defeated, and you win the prize!
A verse to remember:
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death!”
Revelation 21:4
Today my prayer includes . . .
thanks for this special blessing:
concern for this special person:
petition for this special problem:
A closing verse:
It was a strange and dreadful strife
When life and death contended;
The victory remained with life;
The reign of death was ended.
Stripped of power, no more it reigns,
An empty form alone remains
Death’s sting is lost forever! Alleluia!
Martin Luther
